On November 8th, 2019, Baylor University’s Institute for Family Business honored and recognized Russell Feed & Supply, as the 2019 Texas Family Business of the Year Community Commitment Award Winner. Baylor University’s Award Program- now in its 30th year- recognizes outstanding firms who demonstrate a commitment to business, community, employees, family & industry. The Community Commitment Award is given to the successful family business that demonstrates a commitment to improving their community. The recipient must also contribute to the overall well-being of their community.
“In an age of big boxes, online companies, and national chains, it means a lot for us to be recognized,” said Kenny Russell at the banquet on November 8th at the University’s Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation after the announcement. “We are grateful for Baylor’s commitment to recognizing family businesses and what makes them unique.”
Texas Family Business of the Year firms are recognized in three size categories, as well as special categories.

The Texas Family Business of the Year Awards Program recognizes multi-generational, family-owned firms. Specifically, those families who demonstrate a commitment to each other, to their employees, to the community, and to business continuity. This event draws hundreds of family business owners annually to the Baylor campus. The intent is to recognizes and promote outstanding family businesses, as well as offer a valuable networking and development tool for family business honorees and undergraduate students. They are invited to the afternoon family business forum and evening awards banquet.
Russell Feed & Supply is a locally owned and operated chain of feed stores serving the North Texas area. Their stores offer a large selection of livestock feed, pet food, and lawn and garden supplies. Judges expressed they were impressed with the relentless commitment of Russell Feed & Supply to support and promote agriculture and other local causes through virtually every facet of their business.
